As the offseason rolls in, the program is reshaping its roster. Seventeen fresh faces are set to arrive from high schools and junior colleges, promising new depth and talent.
At the same time, a handful of veterans are moving on. Players such as Cooper Katskee, Caleb Hoover, Cole Moore, Max Buettenback, Nico Newhan, Carter Kutz and Blake Sebastian have entered the transfer portal or otherwise left the team, citing exhausted eligibility, the MLB draft or the portal itself.
The transfer portal window, which opened on June 1 and will close on June 30, has become the focal point of activity. Updates on each player's destination are being monitored by coaches and fans alike.
Key Departures and Arrivals
Among the incoming transfers, Caleb Hoover committed on June 6 after a stint at South Carolina, while Cole Moore, also a June 6 arrival, brings a 3‑0 record and a 4.68 ERA from the 2026 season. Max Buettenback, who entered the portal on June 5, will finish his collegiate career elsewhere, and Nico Newhan followed suit the same day.
Other moves include Carter Kutz’s portal entry on June 2, a redshirt year that yielded no game action in Lincoln, and Blake Sebastian’s redshirt season in 2026. Cooper Katskee’s portal move on June 9 marks the latest departure.
With the portal now closed, the Huskers must integrate their new additions while adjusting to the loss of key contributors. The coaching staff is expected to lean on the experience of returning players and the fresh energy of the high‑school and junior‑college signees as they aim to build on last season’s regional‑hosting achievement.
