Battle at the Ballpark returns in 2027
Nebraska’s baseball program will travel to San Antonio next February to compete in the 2027 Battle at the Ballpark tournament, a three‑day showcase that brings together four of the nation’s most competitive college teams.
The event, organized by the San Antonio Missions, will be held at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium from February 26 through February 28, 2027, and will feature a round‑robin schedule that guarantees each squad two games per day.
Alongside the Cornhuskers, the field will include Air Force, Army West Point and Notre Dame, each of which arrives with a distinct recent narrative: the Falcons posted a 27‑28 record and a 2‑2 mark in the Mountain West tournament, the Black Knights finished 28‑20 before bowing out in the Patriot League championships, and the Fighting Irish went 31‑22 last season but missed the NCAA tournament.
Nebraska’s recent dominance
Nebraska enters the tournament fresh off a 43‑17 season that culminated in a hosted NCAA Regional, a performance that underscores the Cornhuskers’ return to national prominence.
The tournament also marks a reunion for Air Force and Army, who faced Creighton in the 2024 edition of Battle at the Ballpark, adding a layer of familiarity and rivalry that fans can expect to amplify the on‑field intensity.
With the San Antonio Missions providing the venue and the San Diego Padres listed as a partner organization, the 2027 edition promises a blend of tradition and new storylines, positioning the event as a marquee stop on the collegiate baseball calendar.
