Addison Medeck, a 6‑foot‑3 center from Papillion, Nebraska, announced her commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Tuesday, choosing the Big Ten program over a handful of suitors that included the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The pledge marks a significant recruiting win for Nebraska, which has been eager to bolster its frontcourt as it looks ahead to the 2027 class.
Medeck arrives as the No. 43 overall prospect nationally, the No. 8 center in the class and the top‑ranked recruit from her home state, according to the latest rankings.
During her junior season at Papillion‑La Vista South High School she posted averages of 16.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game, numbers that helped elevate her to a four‑star rating.
The recruiting profile also listed offers from Creighton, South Dakota, Marquette and several other programs, but it was the Cornhuskers who ultimately secured her signature.
While Iowa will have to pivot to other targets for interior depth, Nebraska’s coaching staff celebrated the commitment as a cornerstone for the future.
A Frontcourt Upgrade for the Cornhuskers
Medeck’s skill set aligns with Nebraska’s recent emphasis on versatile big men who can operate both inside and on the perimeter, a trend that has defined the program’s modern identity.
Fans have already begun to imagine the impact of her presence in the paint, with season ticket sales projected to rise as the excitement builds around the upcoming recruiting cycle.
The commitment also underscores the growing competitiveness of women’s basketball in the Midwest, where top talent is increasingly choosing to stay close to home.
