Nemaha Sports Construction Revitalizes Ryder Park Ahead of Fightin’ Cranes’ Debut

State-of-the-art upgrades at Grand Island’s historic baseball field set the stage for the city’s newest collegiate team

A New Chapter for Grand Island Baseball

Nemaha Sports Construction recently completed a sweeping renovation of Ryder Park, the historic baseball field that will serve as the home venue for the Grand Island Fightin’ Cranes. The project, overseen by veteran builder Boyd Crane, added a durable artificial playing surface, sleek new dugouts, energy-efficient lighting and expanded seating to accommodate growing crowds.

Project foreman Cain Haschke highlighted the community’s enthusiasm, noting that local fans and school teams alike have expressed excitement about the upgraded facilities. The renovated field will host its first games featuring Grand Island Senior High School, Elkhorn North and Gretna East, marking a milestone for regional high school baseball.

The transformation is timed perfectly for the Fightin’ Cranes' inaugural season, with opening day scheduled for May 28 at 7 p.m. The new venue not only promises better playing conditions but also reinforces the city’s commitment to supporting youth and collegiate sports.

Beyond the field, the renovation reflects Nemaha Sports Construction’s two-decade expertise in athletic facility development, underscoring its role as a key partner for schools and municipalities seeking modern, safe sports environments.
