The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) unveiled its 2026 Baseball All-Conference selections this week, spotlighting standout performances from across the league.
Shrake’s Consistent Excellence
Junior shortstop Patrick Shrake of Colby College earned a repeat spot on the First Team, marking his second straight year among the conference’s elite. He batted .386 and reached base at a .431 clip, while also driving in 18 runs and stealing 13 bases.
Defensively, Shrake was a steady presence, logging 115 assists and 44 putouts, underscoring his all-around impact.
Higgins’ Pitching Breakthrough
Sophomore pitcher Matt Higgins also made the All-Conference Second Team in his first appearance, posting a 2.98 earned-run average over 42.1 innings across ten outings. His 40 strikeouts highlighted a promising arsenal that helped anchor the Mules’ rotation.
Colby finished the season at 20-15, a testament to the combined contributions of Shrake, Higgins and the rest of the squad under head coach Jesse Woods.
The recognitions reflect a program that continues to develop talent and compete at a high level within the NESCAC.
