The Mountain West Conference announced its All-Mountain West baseball honors this week, recognizing four Nevada Wolf Pack players for their standout performances during the regular season.
Seniors Jayce Dobie and right-hander Aidan Brainard earned first-team honors, while junior infielders Mikey Cruz Jr. and Jackson Waller were placed on the second team.
First-Team Standouts
Dobie, a senior outfielder, finished the conference slate with a .381 batting average, the seventh-best mark in the league, and amassed a conference-leading 40 hits.
His reliability was evident in 10 multi-hit games, including five contests with three or more hits and two games in which he recorded four hits, underscoring his consistency at the plate.
Pitching Evolution
Brainard, who transitioned from a relief role to a starter midway through his debut season, posted a 2.82 earned run average, went 4-0 with a save, and struck out 48 batters — the third-most in conference play.
Second-Team Contributions
Cruz Jr. maintained a .407 average across 21 conference games, reaching base safely in 19 of those appearances and ranking fifth in the league for batting average.
Waller, meanwhile, paced the Wolf Pack with a .409 average in conference play, contributing a steady source of offense throughout the schedule.
Tournament Preview
Nevada will open the Mountain West Tournament on Thursday at 6:05 p.m., meeting New Mexico in the first round as the team looks to carry its late-season momentum into the postseason.
