Rebuilding the Pack
Nevada’s football team finished the 2025 season with an 8‑4 record, a campaign that nearly delivered the Class 4 District 7 championship before a 28‑25 loss to Warrensburg exposed vulnerabilities on the offensive line and sidelined a key starter for the district championship game.
Head coach Wes Beachler praised the departing 20 seniors for their talent, work ethic and discipline, but he also acknowledged that the squad will need to replace all four starting linebackers and the all‑state free safety, Mason Majors, while integrating younger players who showed inconsistency at times.
Among the few bright spots, senior running back Will Jackson is set to return as the sole offensive starter, having earned unanimous All‑Big 8 honors and second‑team All‑State recognition after rushing for 1,498 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024.
The offensive line will be reshaped after key injuries, and the special teams unit must find replacements at kicker, punter and long snapper, adding another layer of transition for the coaching staff.
Beachler says the 2026 roster will be trimmed to the best 11 players on each side of the ball, and the season will open with a Carthage jamboree before road trips to Mt. Vernon and Carl Junction, culminating in a home matchup against Monett.
