Girls’ Program Embraces Change
Kendra Hanley, who spent a dozen years as an assistant coach before moving to Northern State University, now returns to the community as head coach of the girls’ team, succeeding Merle Aske, whose 20‑year tenure set a high bar.
Hanley says she will introduce subtle tactical tweaks, especially in the attacking third, while honoring the program’s long‑standing commitment to excellence.
The returning players, many of whom have been part of the squad for several years, are eager to translate daily improvements into match‑day results.
Boys’ Team Faces Roster Overhaul
Head coach Lance Mohr must replace twelve graduating seniors, compressing what would normally be a longer preparation period into just eight days of practice.
Mohr emphasizes incremental player development, focusing on building cohesion rather than overhauling systems before the season opener.
The boys’ opening fixtures are scheduled for August 14‑15 against Sturgis and Spearfish, games that will serve as early gauges of the team’s progress.
In a separate highlight, Aberdeen native Olivia Braun competed in the SDGA Futures Championship, finishing tied for fourth with a total score of 156.
