A Coaching Shuffle Across the State
The offseason in Georgia high school football has been marked by a flurry of leadership changes, with 91 coaching hires reported across the GHSA this year. Only three programs remain without a head coach as the new season approaches.
Among the most notable appointments is Locust Grove, which has named former Georgia Tech and Troy defensive end Anthony Williams as its new head coach. Williams brings a blend of collegiate experience and recent high school staff work to the role.
Williams spent the past few years on the sidelines at Eastside, Flowery Branch and Piedmont Academy, honing his approach before stepping into the top job at Locust Grove.
South Atlanta, LaFayette and Jordan have also announced their own head coaches, joining a wave of fresh faces that reflects the evolving landscape of the state’s prep football scene.
Athletic directors and community leaders say the new coaches bring optimism and a renewed focus on player development, aiming to keep the programs competitive in a crowded conference.
