The New Philadelphia baseball squad clinched the DIII East District championship on Thursday, sealing a 3-2 win over Tri-Valley with a walk-off pop fly to center field that brought home two runners.
The Quakers had trailed 2-0 entering the sixth inning, but a timely rally produced three runs, flipping the scoreboard and putting the team ahead.

Head coach Tyler Weisel praised the effort, noting the team’s resilience and the mantra “Why not us” that has fueled their season, while emphasizing the victory’s meaning for players, administrators and the broader community.
The win guarantees a berth in the regional semifinals, scheduled to begin June 3 at Paints Stadium in Chillicothe, where the team will await its next opponent.
