New York Expands Free World Cup Watch Parties Across All Five Boroughs

Mayor Zohran Mamdani and DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn unveil five new public viewing sites as part of the citywide Soccer Streets initiative

New York City is set to deepen its celebration of the world’s most watched football tournament, as the Department of Transportation announces five additional free World Cup watch parties spread across Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.

The new locations — Osborn Plaza in Brooklyn on June 26, Johnny Hartman Plaza in Manhattan on July 2, Kensington Plaza in Brooklyn on July 7, Brooklyn Bridge Arches Plaza in Manhattan on July 10, and Corona Plaza in Queens on July 15 — join a network of over one hundred public viewing sites that the city has curated under the “Soccer Streets” banner.

Each site will transform a neighborhood plaza into a vibrant gathering point where fans can watch the matches on large screens, enjoy live musical performances and connect with neighbors from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Mayor Mamdani and Commissioner Flynn on Unity

"It has been incredible to see neighbors and their families come together on streets and plazas to enjoy the World Cup," DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn said, echoing Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s sentiment that the events knit the city’s mosaic of communities together.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani added that the initiative reflects New York’s spirit of inclusion, allowing New Yorkers across the five boroughs to share in a common passion while celebrating the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
