Newmarket High School’s baseball team has earned a place in the Division IV state championship after a commanding 13‑3 victory over Littleton in the semifinals, setting the stage for a showdown with Epping on Saturday, June 13.
Championship Matchup Set
The win was anchored by senior pitcher Jack Ferrelli, who logged 12 strikeouts while allowing just three runs over 4 ⅔ innings, and by a balanced offense that produced runs in every inning except the third.
Nate Fluet closed the game by striking out the final four batters, while Matt Napoletano, Anthony Jurkoic, Charlie Tudor and Cole Ahumada each added hits, walks and RBIs that kept the scoreboard ticking.
The upcoming championship will pit Newmarket against Epping High School, a team that advanced through its own semifinal path and will look to challenge the Newmarket lineup that has shown depth across the roster.
In other local sports action, Exeter’s boys lacrosse squad fell in the Division I semifinals, finishing the season at 12‑7, while the Division III and IV softball semifinals were postponed to Thursday, June 11, setting up matchups such as St. Thomas Aquinas versus Gilford and Portsmouth Christian Academy against Pittsburg‑Canann.
