Young football players and their families converged in Las Vegas for a special camp that featured NFL tight end Brock Bowers, turning the city into a hub of youthful energy and athletic ambition.
The event went beyond drills and games, offering free electrocardiogram (ECG) heart screenings designed to uncover hidden cardiac conditions that can prove fatal for young athletes.
A Lifesaving Partnership
Vegas for Athletes joined forces with FlexWork Sports to deliver these screenings, combining the nonprofit’s community focus with FlexWork’s expertise in sports health services.
Troy Roques, executive director of Vegas for Athletes, said the collaboration was a natural fit, emphasizing how the partnership creates opportunity and raises awareness for families who might otherwise overlook preventive care.
The screening program reflects a broader commitment to safeguard the next generation of athletes, targeting a reality where sudden cardiac arrest remains a leading cause of death among youth sports participants, often striking without warning signs.
Beyond the camp, both organizations aim to expand access to preventive cardiac evaluations across Nevada, partnering with leagues, schools, and community groups to embed heart health checks into everyday athletic training.
