NFL Unveils Modular Flag Football Stadiums for 2027 Launch Ahead of 2028 Olympics

A temporary, touring venue built with TMRW Sports blends premium amenities and flexible design to test a new professional format

A New Venue Model

The NFL is betting on a pop‑up stadium concept that can travel, host a public field and ancillary spaces, and serve as a showcase for the sport’s future during the Los Angeles Games.

The league plans to debut the modular venue in late spring or early summer of 2027, just months before the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The structure, designed to be temporary, will feature three levels, premium seating, and a large videoboard that can broadcast the games in vivid detail.

Partnerships and Funding

TMRW Sports, the parent of the TGL golf league, has been tapped to run the new men’s and women’s pro flag football leagues. The venture is backed by a consortium of investors that includes Ariel Investments, Bessemer Venture Partners, Blue Pool Capital, Dynasty Equity, Silver Lake and Sixth Street, with additional support from NFL team owners.

Renderings and a flythrough video are already being circulated in presentations and requests for proposals aimed at attracting host cities and architectural firms. The NFL notes that the sports industry’s comfort with temporary and modular structures has grown dramatically in recent years, making such a rollout more feasible.

Peter O’Reilly, the league’s senior vice president of events, said the concept reflects a desire to experiment with format while maintaining a high‑profile platform that can be leveraged during the Olympics. The modular approach also opens the door for the league to tour the venue to other markets, creating a traveling showcase for the sport.
