A Fresh Coaching Chapter for Auburn
Nick Ammirati, a switch‑hitting catcher turned hitting guru, is swapping the red and black of Georgia for the orange and blue of Auburn. The move comes after his teams at Georgia topped the nation in home runs and set multiple program records, a feat that caught the eye of Auburn’s baseball leadership.
A former assistant at Southern Miss and a contributor to Kentucky’s SEC Championship run, Ammirati also helped Mississippi State reach the 2013 College World Series as a player. Drafted by the Miami Marlins in 2009, he chose college baseball over professional play, later building a reputation as a mentor to many, including Butch Thompson, with whom he shares a 15‑year relationship.
His family’s enthusiasm for joining the Auburn Family adds a personal dimension to the professional transition, and Ammirati says he will prioritize portal recruiting to replenish the roster with talent that fits his aggressive hitting philosophy.
Auburn’s athletic director praised Ammirati’s track record, noting that his experience at Georgia, Kentucky and Southern Miss equips him to elevate the Tigers’ lineup.
