Nick Bosa, the San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman, is navigating his third torn ACL, this time adopting a measured, patient rehabilitation plan that stretches his recovery into the 2026 season.
The injury occurred during a game against the Arizona Cardinals last year, and Bosa has spent the past months working out of Santa Clara, where he is currently participating in Phase 3 of the team’s OTA program.
Learning to Heal
Having previously torn his left ACL in 2020 and endured a high‑school senior injury, Bosa says the latest setback has taught him to respect his body’s limits and to avoid the temptation of rushing back.
He acknowledges early rehab phases were emotionally taxing, but a clearer understanding of the process has helped him stay steady.
Support has come from teammates such as Fred Warner and Mykel Williams, who have shared their own setbacks and offered encouragement during the grind.
New defensive coordinator Raheem Morris has injected fresh energy into the unit, while rookie Romello Height has impressed Bosa with his early contributions.
Bosa says he is eager for the upcoming campaign and feels a renewed appreciation for the game that has kept him grounded throughout the recovery.
