A New Chapter for Queens Basketball
Queens University of Charlotte announced that Nick Lorensen has been appointed General Manager of its men’s basketball program, bringing a blend of playing experience and administrative acumen to the role.
Lorensen’s path to this position began with a period as a coaching intern and graduate assistant at both Queens and La Salle University, where he contributed to a resurgence that produced the Explorers’ best record since 2017 and a notable Quadrant 1 victory.
From Scouting to Leadership
Beyond the bench, he spent time as a basketball scout for The Portal Report, leveraging those connections to help teams navigate the transfer portal and identify emerging talent.
His scouting work proved instrumental in shaping roster moves, including the development of 2024 ASUN Newcomer of the Year Deyton Albury, who flourished under his guidance.
A Program on the Rise
The Royals capped the 2023‑24 season with a 21‑14 record, captured their first ASUN Tournament title and earned their inaugural NCAA Division I tournament berth in just their first full year of eligibility.
That achievement contributed to a streak of back‑to‑back 20‑win seasons that has positioned Queens as one of the most rapidly ascending programs in the ASUN Conference.
Lorensen holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a master’s in strategic communication, credentials that reflect his commitment to both the athletic and communicative aspects of the game.
