Nick Peruzzi Joins Wisconsin Men’s Hockey Staff as Assistant Coach

Former UConn Assistant Brings NCAA Tournament Experience and Junior Hockey Acumen

The University of Wisconsin‑Madison announced Tuesday that Nick Peruzzi will join the Badgers’ men’s hockey program as an assistant coach, stepping into the role vacated by Nick Oliver, who accepted a head‑coaching position at St. Cloud State University.

Peruzzi arrives after five seasons of collegiate coaching, most recently helping the University of Connecticut reach the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two years. His résumé also includes stints at Northern Michigan University, as well as assistant roles in the USHL with the Lincoln and Youngstown franchises.

Coaching pedigree and future impact

Peruzzi’s coaching journey spans both Division I programs and junior hockey, where he helped shape competitive teams that earned playoff berths. His blend of tactical insight and player development is expected to bolster Wisconsin’s depth as the program aims for a Frozen Four run.

Head coach Mike Hastings praised the new hire, noting Peruzzi’s proven ability to develop talent and contribute to winning programs. “We’re excited to bring Nick’s experience and energy to our staff,” Hastings said in a statement.
