A New Era for Wisconsin Hockey
Nick Peruzzi has been named an assistant coach for the Wisconsin men's hockey team, a move that signals the program’s intent to bolster its defensive and developmental pipelines.
Peruzzi arrives after a distinguished stint at the University of Connecticut, where he served as both assistant and associate head coach and helped the Huskies secure back‑to‑back NCAA Tournament berths.
UConn’s Playoff Resurgence
During his time at UConn, the team captured consecutive Hockey East Championship Game appearances and earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament seed in 2025, underscoring his ability to translate regular‑season success into postseason contention.
His coaching résumé also includes three seasons at Northern Michigan University, a run that culminated in a 2023 CCHA Championship Game appearance, as well as leadership roles with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL and the Youngstown Phantoms.
Prior to his collegiate career, Peruzzi honed his craft with the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and the NAHL’s Aston Rebels, building a reputation for player development across multiple junior circuits.
Off the ice, Peruzzi is married to Caitlin and is a father to a daughter named Vienna, a personal detail that many within the Badgers’ locker room say will add a stabilizing presence to the squad.
Strategic Vision from Head Coach Mike Hastings
Head coach Mike Hastings expressed confidence in Peruzzi’s impact, noting that his blend of tactical acumen and player‑focused philosophy aligns perfectly with Wisconsin’s ambitious goals for the upcoming season.
The Badgers’ fan base anticipates that Peruzzi’s arrival will not only reinforce the defensive structure but also contribute to a culture of resilience and ambition, qualities that have defined the program’s recent resurgence.
