Nico Ramos, a three‑star offensive lineman in the Class of 2027, announced his commitment to Syracuse University on social media, ending a recruitment that had drawn interest from a dozen top programs. The announcement followed an official visit to campus, where Ramos said he was impressed by the energy surrounding the football program.
Why the Orange Won Him Over
Ramos singled out coaches Fran Brown and Juan Castillo for their dedication and ability to nurture talent. He described the culture at Syracuse as a major factor, noting that the staff’s track record of player development resonated with his own goals. "They showed me how they can help me grow as a person and as a player," Ramos said in his announcement.
The recruit, who starred for Florida’s American Heritage High School and helped the team capture a 4A state title, highlighted his versatility, saying he can line up at any of the five offensive line positions. Ranked No. 66 among interior linemen by 247Sports, Ramos also considered Boston College, Duke, Rutgers and several other schools before narrowing his choices.
Beyond the on‑field appeal, Ramos emphasized the academic environment and the sense of community he found in Syracuse. He noted that the university’s location in New York and its strong alumni network aligned with his long‑term plans, making the decision feel both personal and professional.
