A New Era for Springfield Pride Basketball
Nicole Ambrose has been appointed as the Head Women's Basketball Coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College, a move that underscores the institution’s ambition to elevate its women's basketball program to new heights.
Ambrose brings a wealth of coaching experience from Northeastern University, the University of South Carolina Upstate, and Indiana University Southeast, where she cultivated competitive teams and refined a player‑centered philosophy that emphasizes discipline, growth, and academic integration.
Her educational background includes a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Louisville and a master's in teaching from the University of the Cumberlands, providing a strong foundation for her dual role as coach and educator.
Ambrose's inaugural game as head coach is scheduled for November 6, when the Pride will host Western New England University, marking the start of a fresh chapter for the program and its fans.
Building on a Strong Foundation
In expressing gratitude to the search committee and her family, Ambrose highlighted the importance of continuing the legacy established by former coach Naomi Graves, whose tenure set a high standard for excellence and community engagement.
Beyond the hardwood, Ambrose will teach courses in physical education, bringing a practice‑oriented, research‑informed approach that aligns with Springfield College’s mission to blend academic rigor with athletic achievement, while also fostering connections with the broader local community.
