Favour Ossai, a 6‑2 forward from Delta State, Nigeria, has officially joined the NC State Wolfpack women’s basketball program for the 2026‑27 season.
Her arrival adds a blend of size and scoring punch that coaches have been seeking, and it marks the latest chapter in a career that has already taken her from Nigerian streets to the courts of Japan.
International pedigree and high‑school dominance
During three years at Fukushima Toryo High School, Ossai emerged as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 27 points and 12 rebounds per game, and she guided her side to its first-ever tournament victory with a 35‑point, 24‑rebound performance against Saibi High School.
Her exploits did not stop there; at the Winter Cup she posted a double‑double of 25.3 points and 20.6 rebounds, placing her among the top ten scorers in the competition.
Representing Nigeria at the U16 level and competing in the International School Sports Federation Championship in 2022, she built a foundation of experience that she now brings to Raleigh.
A new voice in the locker room
Coach Wes Moore expressed confidence in her potential, noting that while Ossai will contribute depth and size, she will need time to adjust after missing the summer training period.
The signing also underscores a broader trend under Moore’s leadership, as the Wolfpack will field a sixth consecutive season featuring multiple international athletes, the latest being teammate Khady Leye from Senegal.
Ossai stepped onto campus at the beginning of the fall 2026 semester, ready to integrate with her new teammates and staff.
