A free soccer camp for children is now open in Louisville, Kentucky, thanks to former professional player Nini Mohamed.
The program runs daily from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. through the end of July and takes place at Wyandotte Park, welcoming participants from elementary through high school.
Jefferson County Public Schools is providing logistical support and helping to spread the word among families across the district.
Mohamed, who also writes for The African in America and works as a mental health specialist, brings a unique blend of athletic experience and community advocacy to the camp.
Community Impact
The camp offers more than skill development; it creates a safe space where youngsters can build confidence, learn teamwork, and connect with mentors who understand both the sport and the personal challenges they face.
Organizers hope the initiative will encourage more youth to engage in physical activity while fostering a sense of belonging that extends beyond the field.
