From a Salute to Service tribute that honors both military families and the 25th anniversary of 9/11, to a Cancer Awareness Day that unites students, alumni, and local charities, each event reflects the school’s commitment to service and awareness.
Game‑Day Themes and Fan Engagement
The home opener against Illinois State on September 12 will feature a multi‑faceted celebration, including Salute to Service, Family Weekend, Band Day, and an Education Appreciation segment that highlights local teachers. A week later, the team will host Air Force for the 119th Homecoming, the oldest such tradition in Illinois, while also dedicating the afternoon to Cancer Awareness.
Later in the season, the matchup with Hawai'i on October 24 will double as Hall of Fame Weekend, honoring the 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame class, while also serving as Ag Day and Youth Sports Day, inviting local youth teams and agricultural groups to campus.
