Exhibition contests against William Penn University and Saint Louis will open the campaign before the regular season begins on the road at Butler on August 20, 2026, giving the team a chance to fine‑tune tactics in a competitive environment.
Key Dates and Rivalries
August will see NIU host Marquette and UIC at the NIU Soccer and Track & Field Complex, where every home game is free of charge, allowing fans to experience the action without a ticket barrier.
Conference play opens on September 9 when the Huskies welcome IU Indy to DeKalb, and the team will later host Milwaukee for the annual Lewang Cup on September 19, a matchup that could prove pivotal in the pursuit of a third regular‑season league title in six years.
The non‑conference portion wraps up with a September 5 road game at Eastern Illinois and a final non‑conference encounter against Tulsa on October 17, after which the Huskies close the regular season at home against defending Horizon League champion Cleveland State on October 24.
