The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced a realignment that has sent Noblesville out of Sectional 8 in the Class 3A girls soccer tournament, a move that reverberates beyond the bracket.
The adjustment, which aligns the girls’ sectional with the boys’ schedule that was revised in 2024, places Noblesville in Sectional 9, where it will face a different set of opponents.
Hamilton Southeastern, the defending champion, captured its first state title last year, and the program has built a tradition of success that includes five titles for Noblesville before 2025.
Sectional 8 remains competitive, featuring teams such as Fishers, Anderson, Mt. Vernon, Muncie Central, Pendleton Heights and Richmond, while Sectional 9 adds Carmel, North Central, Pike, Westfield and Zionsville to its roster.
Greg Davidson, the Royals coach, voiced disappointment at the end of the historic rivalry, noting that the matchup had been a staple for the community.
Fishers, a longtime rival of Hamilton Southeastern, stayed in Sectional 8 and is slated to host this year’s girls soccer Sectional 8, while Westfield will host Sectional 9.
