The North Augusta girls basketball team entered the state tournament with a near‑perfect record, finishing the year at 28‑1. Their campaign culminated in a decisive 63‑50 victory over Westside in March, securing the program’s third championship in just four years and cementing their place among the state’s elite.
The triumph was marked by a special ring ceremony, where the team received championship rings that break from tradition. Instead of the usual gold or silver, the new rings feature a sleek black design, a choice that reflects the team’s modern identity and sets them apart from past titles.
Design and Celebration
Assistant coach Michael Hawkes led the design process, inviting players to share ideas in a school conference room. Their input helped shape a ring that feels personal to each member while maintaining a unified aesthetic. Rising senior Ashley Walker praised the black rings as a fresh, unique tribute that captures the team’s journey.
