Preseason Power Rankings
North Carolina’s field hockey program entered the 2026 season atop the ACC Coaches Poll, marking the Tar Heels’ thirteenth preseason favorite designation in the last fourteen years. The poll underscores the team’s sustained dominance in the conference.
Star forward Charly Bruder, a three‑time All‑American and the lone ACC selection for the upcoming campaign, brings 60 career goals to the lineup. Her presence is expected to be a central factor as the team looks to extend its streak of ten consecutive ACC Tournament titles.
Coach Erin Matson’s staff earned four first‑place votes in the preseason poll, reflecting confidence in the program’s depth and strategy. The coaching staff’s early support adds to the momentum built around Bruder’s return.
