The North Carolina Tar Heels are gearing up for the 2026 season after a disappointing 4-8 campaign that left them thirteenth in the ACC.
Head coach Bill Belichick, who took the helm this year, has reshaped the staff by bringing in veteran Bobby Petrino to coordinate the offense.
Petrino’s arrival signals a shift toward a more aggressive passing scheme, and the team is already seeing competition at the quarterback spot as they search for a reliable starter.
A revamped receiving corps
Wide receiver Carnell Warren, a four-star recruit ranked nineteenth on the roster, brings a knack for contested catches and thrives in traffic, having posted fourteen touchdowns in eleven high-school games.
Jordan Shipp is slated as the WR1, while the squad has bolstered its pass-catching options with several transfers and fresh recruiting arrivals, including Gio Lopez, Travis Burgess, Miles O'Neill and Javarius Green.
The coaching staff also benefits from the experience of Michael Lombardi and Billy Edwards Jr., who are expected to contribute on and off the field.
With the new scheme in place and a focus on short-term goals, the Tar Heels hope to turn the tide and contend for a stronger ACC finish.
