Landon Thiel of Jackson emerged as the Division I Pitcher of the Year, a testament to a season that combined a perfect 6‑0 record with a 0.95 earned‑run average. He fanned 101 batters in 44 innings, a tally that also marks him as Jackson’s all‑time strikeout leader with 295 career outs. Beyond the numbers, Thiel’s reputation as an Ohio State recruit and a projected MLB Draft prospect has drawn attention from scouts eager to see how his skill set translates to the next level.
Division II Co‑Player of the Year: Jack Andes
Jack Andes from Hoover earned Co‑Player of the Year honors in Division II after a season that showcased his versatility. At the plate he batted .383, smashing four home runs while driving in 20 runs and stealing 44 bases. On the mound he posted a 5‑1 record with a 1.24 ERA, helping the team share the Federal League title. Andes will continue his career at Bowling Green State University, where coaches expect his blend of speed and power to make an immediate impact.
Division V Coach of the Year: Dave Burkett
Dave Burkett of Tuslaw was recognized as Division V Coach of the Year after guiding the Mustangs to an 18‑10 record. His leadership earned him PAC‑7 Coach of the Year honors, underscoring the respect he commands within the league. Burkett’s ability to develop talent and maintain a competitive edge has positioned his program as a perennial contender.
Division VI Honors: Luke Heckert and Grant Coblentz
In Division VI, Lake Center Christian celebrated dual accolades. Luke Heckert was named Player of the Year after batting .505 for the state‑champion Tigers, adding seven doubles, five triples and a home run while stealing 28 bases. Meanwhile, pitcher‑batting star Grant Coblentz posted a 3‑0 record with three saves and a 0.41 ERA, striking out 93 batters across 51 innings. At the plate he batted .402 and contributed eight doubles, six triples and a home run, rounding out a dominant offensive and defensive presence.
