Northeastern Women’s Hockey Eyes 2026‑27 Season After Historic Frozen Four Run

Co‑captains Rylie Jones and Kristina Allard lead a roster enriched by Swiss standout Ivana Wey and key transfers, aiming to sustain momentum despite the absence of a home rink.

Northeastern’s women’s hockey program capped the 2025‑26 season with an unexpected run to the Frozen Four, a feat made more remarkable by the fact that the team practiced and played without a dedicated home rink.

Co‑captains Rylie Jones and Kristina Allard, who were selected to lead the 2026‑27 squad, say that the forced intimacy of a shared space without a rink actually deepened the team’s chemistry and forged a bond that they believe will pay dividends on the ice.

A New Era of Leadership

Adding to the excitement, the Huskies have secured the commitment of Swiss forward Ivana Wey, who arrives in September after a standout season in the PostFinance Women’s League and an Olympic bronze medal with Switzerland. Her arrival follows a tradition of Northeastern recruiting some of the country’s biggest Swiss stars, including Alina Müller, Florence Schelling and Julia Marty.

The roster also benefits from recent transfers Grace Sadura, a rising senior forward from Minnesota‑Duluth, and defender Kamdyn Davis, a rising junior from the same program. Both players bring experience from the National Collegiate Women’s Hockey League and are expected to contribute immediately.

Beyond the newcomers, Northeastern has added a group of promising commits: defender Tess Martin, forwards Soren Biderman, Adela Pankova and Lilly McInerney. Each brings a distinct skill set that coaches hope will diversify the offensive attack.

The program’s impact extends beyond college play, with eleven alumni currently competing in the Professional Women’s Hockey League, underscoring the university’s role in developing elite talent. As the team looks ahead, the blend of seasoned leadership, fresh recruits and a resilient culture positions the Huskies to maintain their upward trajectory.
