The Norwalk girls soccer team saw its flawless campaign halted on Thursday night as North Scott edged a 2‑1 victory in the Class 2A State Semifinal.
A Late Surge
Addy Wood opened the scoring in the 36th minute, giving the Warriors a 1‑0 lead at the half‑time break. The goal was the only one of the first half, and it set the tone for a tightly contested match.
North Scott answered in the 74th minute when Reese Barnett leveled the contest, and just three minutes later the same player struck again to put the visitors ahead. The late goals proved decisive, leaving Norwalk to settle for second place.
The Warriors finished the season with a stellar 17‑2‑2 record, but the loss will also mark the departure of 15 senior players who have shaped the program over the past few years.
Looking Ahead
Coach Avery Drymon and senior captain Julia Solis will both be leaving the squad, but the underclassmen who contributed this year have a foundation to build on. The team’s future remains bright despite the bittersweet ending.
