The Norway Knights have cemented their place in Michigan high school baseball lore after securing their third consecutive MHSAA regional championship, a feat that adds to the program’s storied history and brings the total regional titles to seven.
Dominant performance against Hillman
In the championship game the Knights rolled past Hillman 8-1, out-hitting the opposition 13 to 5. Owen Baij delivered a masterful outing, tossing six shutout innings and striking out 14 batters, while Cameron Varda powered the offense with a home run, a triple and a double, driving in three runs.
State quarterfinal disappointment
The Knights’ run ended in the state quarterfinals with a 15-9 loss to Painesdale Jeffers. Despite the setback the team finished the season at 22-8, a record that reflects both resilience and consistency.
Coach Tony Adams’ perspective
Coach Tony Adams praised the squad’s growth and resilience, noting that the culture he has helped foster has been a cornerstone for the third straight year. He highlighted the seniors, whose collective contributions accounted for 102 career wins, as the backbone of the team’s success.
Key contributors
Beyond Baij and Varda, the lineup featured Landon DeBakker, Elliott Kraemer, Tristan Lessor, Landon Ross, Carter Cazzola, Maddex Burklund, Kellan Amundson and Hunter Langin, each adding depth that proved vital throughout the campaign.
With a strong foundation and a culture of excellence, the Knights look to build on this momentum as they prepare for the next season, aiming to translate regional dominance into further state contention.
