Using a laptop in the team’s hotel, Ostigard held a FaceTime call with his partner Aurora Eidmann as she gave birth to their son, a moment he described as the most profound of his life.
The defender said the experience filled him with joy and pride, and he felt a deep sense of relaxation knowing that everything had gone smoothly.
Shortly after the birth, several of his teammates, including Erling Haaland, stopped by to offer congratulations and parenting advice, turning the hotel corridor into a makeshift support group.
Ostigard’s club, the Norwegian Football Association, noted the unique story as a reminder of the human side behind elite sport, while the player prepares for Norway’s Group I clash with Senegal at the New York/New Jersey Stadium on Monday.
