Norwich Baseball Stars Earn Conference Honors as Season Winds Down

Junior pitcher Carson Rath and senior captain Geffen Franus receive accolades while the Cadets close out a historic 2026 campaign

Season Highlights and Honors

Carson Rath, a junior right-hander for Norwich University, was selected to the GNAC All-Conference Third Team after a season that placed him among the conference’s most effective pitchers. His 3.82 earned run average and 1.17 WHIP reflected a level of consistency that helped the Cadets remain competitive throughout the schedule.

Rath’s impact was underscored by back-to-back Pitcher of the Week awards in weeks eight and nine, culminating in a complete-game victory over New England College where he struck out eleven batters in a 6-1 win. Those performances contributed to his top rankings in wins, complete games and strikeouts across the GNAC.

Senior captain Geffen Franus earned a spot on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team, highlighting his leadership both on and off the field. Offensively, he led the team with 44 hits and eight doubles, tying for the team lead in runs scored with 26 and adding two home runs. His strong finish earned him a place on the GNAC Honor Roll during the final weeks of the season.

Norwich University concluded the 2026 campaign with a 13-9 overall record and a 9-11 mark in GNAC play, marking the program’s return to the GNAC Tournament for the first time since 2024. The Cadets capped the season with their first postseason victory in more than two years, defeating the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) 4-3.
