Academic Excellence Recognized
The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced that twelve members of the Norwich University women's ice hockey program have been selected to the 2025‑26 Krampade All‑American Scholar roster. The honor, which is limited to student‑athletes who maintain a minimum 3.75 grade‑point average each semester and appear in at least 40 percent of their team's games, underscores the Cadets' commitment to academic excellence.
Scholar‑Athlete Honorees
Among the honorees, senior defenseman Livia Brooks earned a place on the AHCA First Team All‑American for the third consecutive year, becoming just the second player in program history to achieve three All‑American selections. Goaltender Madison Brunet was named to the Third Team after setting a new single‑season record with nine shutouts, while rookie defenseman Maggie Hunter was recognized as one of the top rookie defensemen in Division III, capturing Rookie of the Year honors in the Little East Conference. Alex Leslie received NCAA Elite Scholar‑Athlete recognition, and the team as a whole was highlighted by multiple individual accolades.
A Season to Remember
The Cadets capped a remarkable campaign with a 26‑3 overall record, going unbeaten in Little East Conference play and securing the conference championship. Their journey culminated in the NCAA Division III Frozen Four, where they opened with a 1‑0 victory over Hamline University in the quarterfinals at Kreitzberg Arena before falling in overtime to Nazareth University, 5‑4, in the national semifinals.
Beyond the ice, the team captured the Little East Conference Team Academic Award, posting a collective 3.69 GPA, the highest among women's ice hockey programs in the league. The achievement reflects the program's broader philosophy of balancing athletic ambition with scholarly rigor.
Coach and athletic director praised the student‑athletes for their dedication, noting that the combination of academic distinction and on‑ice success positions Norwich as a model for collegiate programs nationwide.
