The Norwin Knights are set for an unconventional season. With a $25 million renovation still underway at their home stadium, both the football and soccer squads will conduct their home contests away from campus this fall.
Off‑Campus Venue
The football team will play four of its home games at Penn‑Trafford's Warrior Stadium, a venue that offers a familiar atmosphere despite the change of scenery. The decision was announced by school officials as a pragmatic solution while construction crews upgrade the Knights' own fieldhouse and surrounding infrastructure.
Practice Relocation
During the renovation, the football squad has been training on the grass field behind the fieldhouse at Knights Stadium, where a new goal post has recently been installed. Summer workouts have also taken place in the campus parking lot and on the open field, allowing players to maintain conditioning while the stadium transformation progresses.
Soccer Teams' Unofficial Plans
The soccer teams' schedule remains less defined. Initial proposals to practice and compete at Yough, East Allegheny and Jeannette are still unofficial, pending further coordination with those facilities. Notably, East Allegheny is concurrently undertaking its own stadium project that will feature new artificial turf, potentially offering a shared venue for Norwin's soccer programs.
Looking Ahead
Construction timelines indicate that the renovated stadium should be ready by June 2027, at which point the Knights will be able to return to their fully upgraded home field. Until then, the team and coaching staff, including Athletic Director Mike Brown, are embracing the temporary arrangements as an opportunity to build resilience and community connections across the region.
