The Norwin High School girls’ soccer program is entering its 2026 campaign with momentum built on a 15‑4 record from a year ago, a Section 1 title and a run to the WPIAL semifinals.
Coach Ashley DeVito has woven a culture of camaraderie and relentless preparation into the squad, emphasizing teamwork over individual accolades.
A Fresh Start on the Pitch
The Knights will host home games at East Allegheny, Yough and Jeannette this season, a shift prompted by construction delays at the Knights Stadium that pushed the start of play to August 28.
New rivals such as Latrobe and Penn‑Trafford have moved down to Class 3A, while Fox Chapel joins the slate, reshaping the competitive landscape of Section 1.
Returning stalwarts include seniors Siena Ali and Ava Usko, juniors Neeve Graham and Neilah Schade, and sophomores Leesia Phetomphou, Mackenzie Carpenter and Gianna Marts, all of whom contributed to the team’s 74‑11 goal differential last year.
Coach DeVito’s philosophy centers on a winning mindset, with the players already focused on goals, preparation and the pursuit of a deeper playoff run.
Beyond Norwin, other powerhouses such as Franklin Regional, Belle Vernon and Greensburg Salem bring strong rosters back, promising a crowded field as the WPIAL playoffs begin in October and culminate with state championships in November.
