Notre Dame's 2027 recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the most aggressive pursuits in recent memory, with the Irish staff pinning high hopes on a quartet of elite prospects.
Four-star linebacker Roman Igwebuike remains the focal point of the Irish defense plans, but his eventual decision will also open the door for the program to aggressively court other top talents.
A Versatile Threat
Tate Wallace, a 6-3, 230-pound athlete from Minnesota, has emerged as a prime target for the Irish after a standout junior season that saw him record 50 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles on defense, while also hauling in 40 receptions for 611 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense.
Wallace’s blend of size, speed and playmaking ability has not gone unnoticed; his performance has placed him at No. 368 overall in the 2027 class and No. 29 among linebackers, according to 247 Sports.
The Irish coaching staff, led by head coach Marcus Freeman, sees Wallace as a do-it-all weapon who could complement Igwebuike and elevate the defense’s pass rush while adding depth at the offensive skill positions.
With offers from Tennessee, Arizona State, Kansas State and a host of other power-five programs, Wallace’s recruitment remains fluid, and Notre Dame’s ability to flip his commitment from Minnesota would represent a significant statement in the 2027 class.
