Notre Dame’s women’s basketball team is set to host the University of Connecticut on December 9 at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana, renewing a rivalry that has spanned nearly six decades.
The matchup represents the 58th meeting between the Irish and the Huskies, a series in which UConn currently holds a 41‑16 advantage overall.
A historic rivalry renewed
Their most recent encounter came in the 2026 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, where UConn posted a 70‑52 victory over Notre Dame.
Despite that loss, the two programs have split their last ten meetings, with the Irish matching the Huskies at five wins apiece over that span.
Notre Dame’s non‑conference slate also includes games against Villanova on November 1, as well as contests versus Florida, West Virginia and Vanderbilt on December 3.
The traditional Shamrock Classic, a regular early‑season event for the Irish, has not yet been officially scheduled for this year.
Looking ahead
The series of high‑profile matchups underscores the challenging preparation the Irish face as they aim to build momentum heading into conference play.
