NY Racing Team Skips EchoPark Speedway as Yeley’s Season Falters

The team’s fifth Cup Series appearance ends without the No. 44 Chevrolet, while TNT Sports prepares live coverage of the Quaker State 400.

NY Racing Team’s fifth outing of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season ended in a season‑worst 35th‑place finish at Chicagoland Speedway, a result that underscored the team’s ongoing struggles.

EchoPark Weekend Without the No. 44

J.J. Yeley, who has now missed the season‑opening Daytona 500 for three consecutive years, had previously posted a season‑best 21st‑place run at Michigan International Speedway before the Chicago setback.

For the upcoming Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway, the team announced it would not field the No. 44 Chevrolet, a car that has only been driven by Joey Gase so far this year; Gase’s own effort at Talladega Superspeedway resulted in a 30th‑place finish.

The lineup for the race will feature two non‑chartered entries: Chad Finchum in the No. 66 Ford and B.J. McLeod in the No. 78 Chevrolet, while the No. 67 Toyota that Corey Heim piloted at Chicagoland will not run this weekend.

TNT Sports will provide live coverage of the event beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time, adding a national audience to what promises to be a modestly attended race.
