Nyah Stallings, a junior forward for Galena High School, has emerged as one of the most prolific scorers in Northern Nevada soccer this season, recording 20 goals and eight assists.
Resilience on the Field
Her impact was on full display in last year’s state championship, where she netted two goals in just eight minutes — a header and a free‑kick — that forced the match into a tie before a stoppage‑time loss.
What makes her performance even more remarkable is the circumstances: she played through a concussion and a bout of illness, refusing to let adversity dim her competitive edge.
The Stallings family’s athletic pedigree runs deep; her father, Roderick Stallings, earned a defensive back spot at the University of Nevada, while her mother, Megan Lytle, was a javelin thrower for the same program.
Steve Estipona, Galena’s head coach, describes her as a true scorer who attacks the goal with purpose, emphasizing that her drive is as much about team success as personal statistics.
As a senior captain, Stallings is steering the team toward a third consecutive state‑title game, a feat that would cement the program’s recent dominance after back‑to‑back Class 4A runner‑up finishes.
Beyond the trophy, she is actively pursuing college scholarship offers, focusing on refining the performance that defined her breakout season.
