Nyla Henton, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mississippi, has turned a high school cheerleading passion into the next step of her athletic journey.
After graduating from Vicksburg High School, where she spent four years cheering for the Gators and serving as co‑captain under head coach Shalanda Harris, Henton signed on to join the Bulldogs' basketball cheer squad at Hinds Community College.
A Cheerleading Debut in Utica
The Bulldogs' basketball season is slated to begin this fall, and Henton will make her first appearance on the sidelines in Utica, bringing the energy and experience honed over her high school career.
Her commitment reflects not only personal ambition but also the growing pipeline of talent from Vicksburg’s athletic programs to community college teams across the state.
Hinds Community College, a cornerstone of junior college athletics in Mississippi, will welcome Henton alongside a roster of new talent, while Vicksburg High School celebrates the continued success of its cheerleading program, which has produced several standout athletes in recent years.
