Nylah Brooks, a senior guard from Booker T. Washington High School, revealed her decision to play for the University of West Florida on her X account, cementing a connection that stretches back to her mother’s storied career. Michelle Gibson, a Hall of Fame inductee, starred for the Argos from 2002 to 2006 and remains one of the program’s all‑time greats.
The commitment marks the culmination of a high school career that culminated in a state championship and a first‑team all‑area honor. Brooks averaged 10.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and two steals per game as a junior, and she capped the season with a team‑high 16 points in the 5A title game.
