Ryan Gregory, the head coach of the Oak Grove Tigers, is entering his third season at the helm with a clear mission: to build on the program’s recent successes and guide the team back to the Caesars Superdome in 2026.
Under Gregory’s direction, Oak Grove has already captured back‑to‑back Division IV nonselect titles in 2022 and 2023, a feat achieved under the tutelage of four‑time LHSAA champion Vic Dalrymple. The Tigers finished the 2024 season as district runners‑up before falling in the quarterfinals to Sterlington, and they will face a similar test against St. James in 2025.
A Season of Promise
This year’s senior class, which celebrated a state championship in 2023, is determined to lead by example. Senior safety Brodie Duff has spoken of the team’s high standards and the importance of the coaching staff, while quarterback Bryson Reeves admits that past mistakes must be corrected through greater focus and discipline.
The offensive backbone will be anchored by Reeves and running back PJ Hill, while linebacker Gaige Smith and Duff anchor a defense that aims to tighten up after a series of close losses. Kaleb Proctor, a Tiger alumnus drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, serves as a reminder of the program’s ability to produce talent at the next level.
Oak Grove will compete in District 3‑2A this fall, confronting a challenging pre‑district slate that includes matchups against Mangham, Union Parish, Caldwell and D’Arbonne Woods Charter. Gregory believes that early‑season competition will sharpen the team’s consistency, a quality he considers essential for a deep postseason run.
Beyond the field, the senior cohort hopes to mentor younger players and give them the chance to experience the Superdome atmosphere that defined their own championship year. The community’s investment in the program underscores the belief that Oak Grove can turn its promising trajectory into a lasting legacy.
