Objects of Glory: A Football Odyssey
A new exhibition at the Jumex Museum in Mexico City invites visitors to step back into the storied annals of football, presenting a curated collection of artifacts that have shaped the sport’s global narrative.
Titled "Objects of Glory: Iconic Moments in the History of Football", the show runs from July 10 to August 30, 2026, and is offered free of charge to the public.
Among the highlights are Pelé’s original cleats from the 1970 World Cup, Diego Armando Maradona’s jersey from his legendary 1986 victory over England, and a hand‑painted leather ball commemorating the 1888 FA Cup Final.
The display also features a replica of the Jules Rimet Cup, the trophy that once symbolised world football supremacy, alongside an early rule book dating back to 1893.
A Global Collaboration
Curated in partnership with Qatar Museums and the 3‑2‑1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, the exhibition bridges continents, reflecting a shared passion for preserving sporting heritage.
The collaboration underscores a broader cultural dialogue ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across three nations — Mexico, the United States and Canada — and aims to celebrate the tournament’s rich legacy.
Free Access and Public Engagement
Visitors can explore the artifacts within the museum’s modern galleries, where each object is contextualised with multimedia narratives that trace its journey from the pitch to the present day.
Admission is free, making the exhibition an accessible cultural event for audiences across the United States and beyond.
