The Ocala Vanguard Knights, one of Florida’s most celebrated high school football programs, have officially unveiled their 2026 slate, a schedule that promises a gauntlet of competition across the state.
Coming off a 2025 campaign that ended with a 9‑3 record and a runner‑up finish in the FHSAA Class 4A, Region 2 final, the Knights enter the new season with momentum and a clear ambition to capture the title.
Athletic director Mark Reynolds emphasized that the schedule was constructed to test the team’s depth, featuring matchups against traditional powerhouses from Lake Wales, Tampa and Gainesville, as well as regional rivals in Leesburg and Mt. Dora.
Returning starters include a talented group of skill players who helped the Knights reach the regional final, and the coaching staff expects those veterans to provide leadership on both sides of the ball.
A Season of Promise
Among the newest additions, three‑star quarterback commit Terrance Lewis Jr. will join the program, while wide receiver James Bethea is expected to add another dimension to the offense.
Nasir Allen, a key defensive standout from the previous season, is also slated to play a pivotal role as the Knights aim to translate their offseason gains into on‑field success.
The upcoming games will be spread across a variety of venues, from the historic fields of Forest and Lake Weir to the modern stadiums of Citra and Lecanto, each presenting its own unique challenges.
The Florida High School Athletic Association will oversee the contests, ensuring compliance with eligibility rules and maintaining the high standards that have defined the Knights’ schedule.
Fans and alumni are already marking their calendars, eager to witness a season that could see the Knights finally break through to a state championship.
