Oceanside Collegiate Academy’s football program, known as the Landsharks, is setting its sights on a fourth straight state championship for the 2026 season. The team enters the campaign with a blend of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers, aiming to translate offseason work into another deep playoff run.
Quarterback Aiden Manavian, a senior who is edging toward 10,000 career passing yards, returns to lead an offense that also features Power 4 receivers Jaiden Kelly‑Murray and Anthony Williams. Manavian’s 42 touchdown passes last year illustrate the firepower the Landsharks bring to the field.
Coach LaPrad’s focus on depth
Head coach Brent LaPrad has emphasized finding new starters and building depth during spring drills, acknowledging the loss of several trench players but trusting the talent that remains. His strategy focuses on developing versatility across the roster.
During June, the squad traveled to North Carolina and South Carolina to compete in 7‑on‑7 tournaments, using the exposure to test new combinations and evaluate emerging talent.
Senior running back James O’Connor, who has recovered from injury, is slated to be the RB1, while lineman Jaxson Bean offers experience on the line. Defensive standouts Michael Strickler and Cole Gaspar return, with Strickler posting nearly 100 tackles last season and Gaspar contributing five interceptions.
The Landsharks’ blend of experience, strategic development, and competitive exposure positions them as a formidable contender as the 2026 season approaches.
