The Federal Prospects Hockey League’s newest franchise, the Oceanside Shock, has revealed its name, logo and mascot to the public, marking the team’s entry into professional hockey in Southern California. The club’s debut is set for October 10 at Frontwave Arena, where it will face the Fresno Falcons in its first home game.
A Beach‑Inspired Identity
The Shock’s visual identity leans heavily on the coastal character of North County San Diego. Its logo features a stylized jellyfish rendered in Carolina blue, black and white, colors that echo the region’s oceanic backdrop while conveying a sense of adventure and community spirit.
Phil Salvagio, a local entrepreneur who also co‑owns Frontwave Arena, is the principal behind the Shock. His involvement ties the team closely to the venue, making it the only franchise at the arena to carry the Oceanside moniker.
The Shock’s schedule places its inaugural match on October 10 against the Fresno Falcons, a game that will showcase the league’s Western expansion, which also includes teams in Stockton and Fresno. The regular season is slated to run through April, offering a full slate of matchups across the region.
Beyond competition, the jellyfish mascot is positioned as an ambassador for the local community, appearing at schools, charity events and beach clean‑ups. The creature’s ocean‑dwelling nature serves as a reminder of the environmental and cultural ties that bind the team to its hometown.
