Former Kansas guard Ochai Agbaji returned to his hometown this summer to lead the second annual Young Agbaji Foundation Basketball Skills Camp at Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Missouri. The event gathered fifty youngsters aged eight to eighteen for a three‑hour session of drills, shooting exercises and friendly competition, followed by a brief meet‑and‑greet with the NBA veteran.
Agbaji praised the energy of the campers, noting that many were repeat participants who had enjoyed the inaugural event the previous year. He emphasized the simple joy of seeing the game spark excitement in a new generation and highlighted the importance of giving back to the community that helped shape his own career.
From Player to Mentor
The camp concluded with a small awards ceremony, where a Brooklyn Nets jersey signed by Agbaji was among the prizes handed out. The gesture underscored the connection between his on‑court journey and the community he serves, turning a personal milestone into a shared celebration.
Now a free agent after a trade that took him from the Toronto Raptors to the Brooklyn Nets, Agbaji reflected on how the move has sharpened his scoring and shooting. Beyond the court, the Young Agbaji Foundation continues its outreach by serving meals at local homeless shelters and planning additional service projects.
